When the MacBook Neo debuted in March, it arrived with a $599 price tag, further sweetened by a $100 education discount that dropped the cost to $499. That initial pricing structure proved highly popular, though Apple moved to tighten eligibility requirements in May by closing a loophole that allowed non-students to access the lower rates.
Following a broader price adjustment across Apple’s hardware lineup in June, the retail cost for the base model climbed to $699. This latest increase pushes the education price to $649, meaning the laptop now costs $150 more for students than it did at its release eight months ago. Despite the repeated hikes, the device remains a central part of Apple's budget-conscious laptop strategy.
