Apple rolls out iOS 27 with AI-powered Siri and new workflow tools

Beyond the AI overhaul, the update addresses long-standing user requests. The Weather app now includes granular condition tabs and a daily highlights summary, while AirPods users finally gain a three-band system-wide equalizer for real-time audio tuning. Visual adjustments are also present, with new sliders to calibrate the tint and refraction of the Liquid Glass interface.

Practical utility receives a boost through a new bill-splitting tool in Apple Wallet and Messages, which uses camera-based OCR to parse receipts and calculate individual totals including tax and tip. For those frustrated by UI clutter, a new setting allows users to customize or remove the dictation button within the Messages text field. Meanwhile, the Photos app gains generative capabilities for object removal and spatial reframing, alongside the ability to export high-quality stills directly from video files.

Perhaps the most significant connectivity change is the new iPhone Handoff feature, which allows a single phone number to function across two devices, such as a standard iPhone and a foldable model. Currently limited to T-Mobile subscribers for a five-dollar monthly fee, the feature enables seamless switching of calls and messages between handsets. These additions arrive alongside a broader hardware refresh, with preorders now open for the latest AirPods, Apple Watch Series 12, and iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
