T-Mobile launches discounted wireless plans for college students

College and graduate students can now access discounted wireless service through T-Mobile’s new Student Perks program. By targeting the back-to-school season, the carrier is offering three distinct pricing tiers starting at $30 per month, aiming to reduce the financial burden of connectivity for students living on their own.

The entry-level Essentials Saver plan provides unlimited talk, text, and data for $30 monthly with AutoPay. For students seeking more entertainment, the Experience More tier costs $65 and includes an ad-supported Netflix subscription, with an optional Apple TV add-on for $3 per month. The top-tier Experience Beyond plan, priced at $80, bundles both Netflix and Hulu, alongside the carrier's 5-Year Price Guarantee.

Beyond mobile data, T-Mobile is incentivizing the bundle by offering 5G Home Internet for an additional $30 per month, a $5 discount compared to standard rates. Subscribers also receive perks like a one-year DashPass subscription for DoorDash and access to the T-Mobile Tuesdays rewards program. To maintain these rates, students must verify their enrollment status within 45 days of activation and may be subject to periodic re-verification. Failure to confirm eligibility will result in the plan reverting to standard pricing, which can increase costs by up to $20 per line each month.
