DJI Launches Osmo Pocket 4P Globally, Bypassing the U.S. Market

The Osmo Pocket 4P represents a shift toward professional cinematography, departing from the social-media-centric focus of its predecessors. The hardware upgrade centers on a dual-lens system: a primary one-inch CMOS sensor offering 17 stops of dynamic range and a 60-millimetre telephoto lens for portraiture. Capable of recording 4K at 240fps, the device also introduces the 10-bit D-log two-colour profile, which DJI claims captures over one billion colors to enhance post-production flexibility. Users opting for the Vlog Combo bundle receive the Osmo FrameTap remote, enabling remote monitoring and camera control.

Despite its international availability in Black and Pearl White, the device faces an indefinite delay in the U.S. as DJI awaits government authorization. This trend of exclusion has impacted several recent releases, including the Mic 3 and Avata 360 drone. Pricing in the UK reflects the professional positioning of the new hardware, with the Standard Combo set at £529 and the Vlog Combo at £605. For comparison, the standard Osmo Pocket 4 retails for £445, leaving the 4P as a premium option for creators seeking expanded cinematic capabilities.
