This performance hiccup arrives amid internal admissions that the T-Satellite service is seeing minimal adoption. T-Mobile CEO Srini Gopalan recently disclosed that satellite usage accounts for roughly 0.0003% of the carrier's total network traffic. Despite the initial hype surrounding the SpaceX partnership and a reported 1.8 million sign-ups during the service’s beta phase, the product currently functions more as a niche supplement than a reliable emergency fail-safe. T-Mobile has yet to provide specific details regarding the cause of Monday's outage or why the satellite handoff failed for so many customers.
