Anticipated smart glasses from Apple will not hit the market until late 2027, according to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Development hurdles have pushed the project back from initial expectations of a 2026 debut, forcing the company to recalibrate its timeline for challenging Meta’s dominance in the wearable space.
The tech giant continues to view these glasses as a cornerstone of its long-term hardware strategy. The proposed devices are expected to feature cameras for media capture alongside built-in microphones and speakers for audio tasks. Apple plans to integrate advanced AI capabilities and specialized health-tracking features to differentiate the product from existing competitors like the Meta Ray-Bans.Engineers are currently evaluating four distinct design variations, ranging from large rectangular frames reminiscent of Wayfarers to slimmer, oval-shaped options. Potential colorways under consideration include light brown, ocean blue, and black, with projected U.S. pricing estimated between $200 and $500. Beyond the glasses, the company’s roadmap for a more affordable iteration of the Vision Pro headset appears even more distant, with a potential release window of 2028 or 2029.
