Trump turns on Fox News as midterm losses sting

Donald Trump lashed out at Fox News on Tuesday, accusing his longtime media ally of enabling Democratic victories through biased coverage. As election results confirmed a shift in control of Congress, the former president seized on the network’s recent viewership decline to argue that its editorial direction is alienating core supporters.

Trump turns on Fox News as midterm losses sting

The former president took to Truth Social to claim that Fox bears responsibility for Republican losses by consistently highlighting Democratic opposition. He pointed to a 27% drop in the network’s October ratings as evidence that audiences are abandoning the channel. While Fox News did not comment on the attack, Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch previously addressed the dip, attributing it to viewer fatigue rather than a migration to rival networks like CNN or MSNBC.

Despite the friction regarding viewership, Fox Corp. reported a robust fiscal first quarter with $4.57 billion in revenue, a 22% increase driven largely by political advertising and sports coverage. While Trump has frequently targeted other media outlets, his open hostility toward Fox marks a notable departure from a relationship that once served as his primary broadcast megaphone.
