The company’s growth extends beyond paid tiers, with monthly active users climbing 12 percent to 777 million. Revenue reached €4.8 billion, a 14 percent jump that follows a concerted effort to convert free listeners into Premium customers. Strategies for this push include the integration of an AI-driven chatbot for music history, concert ticketing, and specialized features like Running Mode. These tools support the $12.99 monthly ad-free subscription, which remains the company’s primary revenue engine.
While industry rivals Apple Music and YouTube Music maintain significant footprints—estimated at 100 million and 125 million subscribers respectively—they rarely disclose precise figures, leaving Spotify’s transparency as an outlier. Co-CEO Gustav Söderström highlighted the company's focus on rapid product shipping and engineering as the drivers behind this expansion, noting that the platform is still in the early stages of its potential. This growth trajectory continues despite internal restructuring, which saw three percent of the staff in the podcast division laid off earlier in 2026.
