Walmart Schedules Summer Sale to Preempt Amazon Prime Day

Walmart is moving to capture consumer attention before Amazon’s flagship event, scheduling its annual Summer Deals sale from June 22 to 28. By launching a full day before Prime Day, the retailer aims to secure an early advantage in the mid-year discount race that has become a retail industry standard.

Shoppers can access discounts of up to 50% starting at 12 a.m. ET on June 22. While specific product listings remain under wraps, Walmart has confirmed significant price cuts across key categories including home goods, floor care, toys, pet supplies, and outdoor equipment. Televisions are also slated for discounts of up to 40%.

Walmart+ members are positioned to receive priority, gaining exclusive early access to the event’s online inventory. The retailer currently offers a 30-day trial for $1 or a full annual membership for $98 to facilitate participation. Historical data suggests consumers should monitor Apple products closely; during previous iterations of this event, Walmart offered aggressive pricing on wearables and accessories that frequently outperformed competitors like Best Buy and Amazon.
