The emulator functions by tricking game software into recognizing the Xbox hardware as a PlayStation environment. While the project is in its infancy, Uenal has demonstrated titles like Gex Trilogy and Quake 2 running on the console. Performance remains inconsistent, with Quake 2 fluctuating between 20 and 40 frames per second, falling short of the stability standard for modern gaming.
Technical hurdles remain significant, primarily regarding graphics rendering. KytyPS5 relies on the Vulkan graphics API, which is native to PC environments but unsupported by the Xbox’s proprietary DirectX system. Despite these limitations, recent interface updates suggest Uenal is testing more demanding titles, including Grand Theft Auto 5 and Gran Turismo 7. While not yet available to the public, the emulator is expected to run via the console's developer mode once released.
