The utility is strictly optional, granting users the ability to refresh their code at any time to invalidate previous contacts or toggle privacy settings to restrict visibility.

This functionality aligns with Elon Musk’s broader ambition to transform X into an all-encompassing service model similar to WeChat. By decoupling messaging from the necessity of exchanging digits, the platform strengthens the value proposition of its dedicated XChat app, which debuted in late April as a direct competitor to WhatsApp. Beyond communication, the company continues to integrate financial services, having recently expanded its X Money payment feature to all U.S.-based Premium and Premium+ subscribers.
