The outage began at 3:50 a.m. ET, according to the official Salesforce status page, leaving users unable to access essential sales data and invoicing tools. While the company restored most services by 7:00 a.m. ET, the timing proved particularly awkward for the software giant, which is currently hosting its annual conference to project stability and innovation to its customer base.
Salesforce engineers identified the root cause as an external vendor issue impacting Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers. Specifically, version 153 of both browsers triggered intermittent freezing. While a fix for Chrome is already available via a browser update, Salesforce confirmed that users on Microsoft Edge 153 may continue to experience instability until a corresponding vendor patch is finalized. DownDetector logs showed a sharp spike in user complaints during the early morning hours, which subsided as the workday commenced on the U.S. East Coast.
