Google positions Gemini as a daily utility at Made by Google

Google reports that its AI assistant has reached one billion monthly users, with over 100 million of those queries originating from iOS devices. To sustain this momentum, the company is embedding Gemini deeper into the Pixel 11 hardware. New features include expanded live translation for third-party apps, podcasts, and YouTube videos, alongside an accessibility tool that converts American Sign Language into text.

The company is also introducing Rambler, a speech-to-text tool that polishes user phrasing by removing filler words and clarifying intent. This push toward automation extends to the Proactive Assistance interface, which replaces the previous Magic Cue. This system automatically pulls contextual data—such as restaurant reviews or navigation directions—directly from incoming messages. These capabilities are mirrored on the latest Pixel Watch, which now features an AI-powered Health Coach and wrist-based access to the Gemini ecosystem. Google’s strategy relies on the premise that by handling rote communication and information gathering, the technology can effectively reduce screen time for its users.
