The X6 introduces dual 1/1.1-inch Sony sensors, a significant step up from the X5's 1/1.28-inch predecessors, specifically designed to handle low-light conditions and high-contrast environments more effectively. Performance gains are driven by a new 4nm AI processor, which Insta360 claims offers five times the computing power of the previous model while simultaneously reducing overall power consumption. This efficiency allows the camera to record 8K 30fps footage for up to 140 minutes, a 40-minute improvement over the X5.

Video quality receives a notable boost, with 360-degree capture now reaching 8K at 50fps and flat mode peaking at 5K at 60fps. Photography enthusiasts can utilize 120MP for 360-degree images and 42MP for flat shots. The hardware is encased in a redesigned body that is 25 millimetres shorter than the previous generation, housing a 2.32-inch OLED touchscreen capable of 1200 nits brightness. For added utility, the screen functions as a tactile shutter button, ensuring usability even when wearing thick gloves.

The device also brings professional-grade color tools to the series, including 10-bit color, Dolby Vision, and I-Log support. Durability upgrades include a waterproof rating of 20 metres and new, scratch-resistant replaceable lenses. The X6 is available now in Midnight Black and Arctic White, starting at $699.99 for the standard package, with an $799.99 Essentials Bundle offering additional accessories like a fast charge case and invisible selfie stick.
