The company’s latest financial report highlights the scale of its current challenges, as it missed Wall Street expectations by a significant margin. CEO Silvio Napoli, who took the helm earlier this year, has moved to suspend production guidance while the company reevaluates its core operations. This tactical pause reflects a broader internal effort to align the business with a more sustainable growth trajectory.
To bridge the gap, the firm is targeting deep cuts across its primary spending pillars. The plan seeks to claw back $600 million to $800 million from vehicle inventory, alongside $500 million in capital expenditure reductions and $200 million in operating costs. Beyond the immediate fiscal tightening, management has identified three pillars for its transformation: cash and cost, customer quality, and internal culture. Central to this strategy is the partnership with Uber and Nuro, with the firm designating its robotaxi program as its highest priority. Future growth now hinges on successfully scaling these initiatives and completing the production facility currently under construction in Saudi Arabia.
