The proposed 5,000-nit peak brightness marks a significant shift for the series, which currently tops out at 3,000 nits on the existing Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 8. This potential move puts Samsung ahead of the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which also caps at 3,000 nits, and the Apple Watch Series 11, which reaches 2,000 nits.
Should the report hold true, Samsung would dethrone the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. That flagship device currently holds the record for the brightest smartwatch display at 4,500 nits. To contextualize this level of output, the device's 1.5-inch circular AMOLED display would achieve half the maximum brightness of the TCL X11L SQD, an 85-inch television capable of 10,000 nits. Samsung is expected to provide official details regarding the hardware specifications and release window during next month's Galaxy Unpacked event.
