The disruption prompted a flurry of reports on the crowdsourced tracker Downdetector, forcing the company to acknowledge the technical difficulties via its official support account on X. While the platform initially requested patience from its audience while investigating the login errors, the service was officially restored by 10:06 p.m. ET. Disney has not yet disclosed the specific cause of the failure.

The timing of the outage proved fortunate for soccer fans, as the platform currently holds broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in various South American regions. No matches involving Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, or Uruguay were scheduled for the day of the incident. The subsequent match between Mexico and South Korea proceeded as planned, as the technical team managed to resolve the login issues before the 9:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
