AT&T Debuts Three-Dollar Unlimited Data Pass for iPads

The service is accessible directly through the iPad's Settings menu under the Cellular Data section. Users do not need to be current AT&T subscribers to leverage the offer, making the pass available to customers of T-Mobile, Verizon, and other networks. To encourage adoption, the carrier is providing each customer with one complimentary pass to test the functionality.

Despite the flexibility, the offering is restricted to U.S.-based users with eSIM-capable tablets. While AT&T intends to expand this model to other 5G-enabled hardware—including Android tablets, smartwatches, laptops, and even drones—the company has notably excluded smartphones from its current roadmap. This strategy positions the pass as a utility for occasional tablet users rather than a replacement for standard phone plans.
