Motorola WiFi routers are effectively bricked by app failure

Thousands of Motorola WiFi users find themselves locked out of their own hardware as the mandatory MotoSync+ application has remained non-functional for nearly a month. With no public explanation from the company, owners of these networking devices are unable to configure settings, perform resets, or access premium subscription features.

The crisis centers on the MotoSync+ app, which is required to initialize and manage a wide range of Motorola-branded routers. Since mid-May, users have been met with endless loading screens on iOS or a "Server License Expired" error on Android. While existing networks currently remain active for some, the inability to access the app renders the hardware effectively unmanageable for new setups or factory resets.

Although the Motorola brand is prominently displayed on these products, they are operated by a third-party licensee, Premier LogiTech, LLC. This disconnect has left customers in a support vacuum; attempts to contact Motorola for assistance often result in silence or redirection to other vendors. Even as the company remains largely unresponsive, its routers continue to be sold at major retailers like Best Buy and Amazon, despite the official Motorola Network online store recently scrubbing its product pages.

Frustration is mounting across online forums where users describe their expensive mesh systems as "paperweights." Some customers report that even those paying for premium subscriptions are currently barred from accessing the features they fund. While a lone support response mentioned an ongoing "issue with our networking vendor," the lack of a clear timeline for a fix has left many consumers considering the replacement of their hardware entirely.
