Lego Unveils Interactive Pokémon Sets With Built-in Battle Tech

The range includes 12 distinct sets featuring iconic characters such as Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. By equipping these builds with Smart Bricks, users can engage in simulated combat: shaking a figure triggers charged strikes, while air-based gestures initiate attacks or defenses accompanied by light and sound cues. The system rewards training, as increased interaction improves a Pokémon’s probability of victory in head-to-head encounters.

Beyond combat, the collection emphasizes care-taking mechanics. Figures respond to Smart Tag-embedded accessories, allowing players to feed their Pokémon virtual sandwiches or tuck them in for a nap, each triggering unique audio responses. The sets are divided into all-in-one packages, which include the core charging and processing hardware, and compatible sets that allow users to integrate their existing collection into the Smart Play ecosystem. Available for pre-order now, the line hits shelves in August across the U.S., UK, Australia, Poland, Germany, and France, with prices spanning from $14.99 for smaller kits to $119.99 for premium bundles.
