Microsoft Unveils Surface Ultra With Nvidia RTX Spark Chip

Unveiled at Computex 2026, the Microsoft Surface Ultra breaks from traditional laptop architecture by integrating Nvidia’s RTX Spark processor. This 15-inch machine targets professional creators and AI developers, promising to deliver a massive 1 petaflop of AI performance in a chassis weighing under 4.5 pounds.

The device relies on hardware derived from Nvidia’s GB10 chip, previously utilized in the DGX Spark supercomputer. With 6,144 Blackwell GPU cores and 20 CPU cores, the Surface Ultra supports up to 128GB of RAM. This configuration enables the local execution of 120 billion-parameter AI models, placing its compute capabilities in the same tier as a high-end, maxed-out Mac mini.

Beyond the internal hardware, the laptop features a mini-LED display and an expanded touchpad, aiming to balance workstation-grade power with portability. While Microsoft promises all-day battery life, specific technical benchmarks remain under wraps ahead of the scheduled autumn release. The Surface Ultra marks the beginning of a broader industry shift, with Dell, Asus, HP, and Lenovo also slated to launch machines featuring the RTX Spark chip later this year.
