Instead of forcing friends to endure an entire hour-long episode, Spotify’s Clips feature lets users isolate and share specific podcast segments. Launched in May 2026, the tool builds on the existing Chapters framework to help listeners pinpoint and distribute memorable moments directly from the mobile app.
The feature caters to the habit of highlighting specific audio snippets, such as a standout interview revelation or a particularly funny exchange. By selecting the scissors icon located near the playback controls, users can trim audio to their preferred duration. Once adjusted, the segment can either be saved to a dedicated 'My Clips' playlist within the library or shared immediately through messaging platforms.Early adoption data suggests the tool serves creators as well as listeners. Spotify reports that enabling clips correlates with an increase in overall podcast saving, indicating that bite-sized previews help drive engagement with full-length content. While the feature is currently rolling out globally across a curated collection of shows, Spotify expects the catalog of compatible podcasts to expand steadily, eventually appearing for all mobile users.
