The company’s fiscal first-quarter performance was largely driven by a 4.3% volume increase in its fabric and home care division, home to brands like Tide and Febreze. This uptick helped lift total company volume by 2.4%, signaling a potential shift for a business that struggled to maintain consistent growth throughout the previous fiscal year. Adjusted earnings reached $2.00 per share, surpassing the anticipated $1.88.
Not every segment mirrored this success. The grooming business, which includes Gillette and Venus, saw volume contract by 0.4%, while the health care portfolio faced a sharper 2.9% decline. Weakness in oral care and personal health items like Pepto-Bismol weighed on those specific results. Despite these pockets of decline, CEO Shailesh Jejurikar confirmed the company remains on track to hit its annual guidance. P&G also adjusted its full-year sales growth forecast to a range of 2% to 4%, a move influenced by the recent acquisition of vitamin manufacturer Thorne.
