During the "GM Forward" event in Manhattan, CEO Mary Barra and her executive team outlined a roadmap centered on software-defined growth. A key pillar of this strategy involves the integration of a proprietary AI agent within the OnStar brand, designed to refine vehicle capabilities and streamline internal workflows. Chief Product Officer Sterling Anderson emphasized that the company has fundamentally evolved its approach to designing and engineering vehicles over the past year to support these faster turnaround goals.

Beyond production speed, GM is pushing toward personal autonomy. The company confirmed a 2028 target for eyes-off highway driving, a feature slated to debut on the Cadillac Escalade IQ before expanding to higher-volume models. This technological shift, coupled with plans for a fourth generation of efficient all-electric vehicles, represents the automaker’s primary defense against intensifying global competition.
