The theft highlights the growing risks in the multi-billion-dollar trading card market, where rare items can command six-figure prices. One collector reported losing a single shipment valued at more than $100,000. PSA confirmed that while their internal facility remained secure, the third-party carrier was targeted immediately after leaving the site.
To mitigate the fallout, PSA has deactivated the certificates for all stolen cards and alerted major marketplace partners to flag the serialized items should they appear for resale. The company is currently coordinating with FedEx and police to identify those responsible. Affected customers are being offered compensation based on the fair market value of their lost items, up to the maximum insured limits established for their orders.
