The company previously posted $48.59 billion in revenue and $2.80 in adjusted earnings per share during the same period last year. Despite these projections, the primary focus for shareholders remains the automaker's forward-looking guidance. With the U.S. automotive sector bracing for a challenging year, investors are questioning whether GM can sustain its pattern of raising forecasts amid mounting commodity costs and cooling sales.
JPMorgan analyst Rajat Gupta noted that while the third-quarter figures may meet or slightly exceed expectations, the real test lies in 2027 revisions. GM currently projects adjusted earnings before interest and taxes between $14 billion and $16 billion, with automotive free cash flow estimated at $9.5 billion to $11.5 billion. Beyond the balance sheet, market participants are looking for progress on the rollout of redesigned full-size pickup trucks, improvements in warranty costs, and the expansion of software-driven service revenue.
