KFC Ends Decades-Long Pepsi Partnership for Coca-Cola in U.S.

After nearly forty years of serving PepsiCo products, KFC is shifting its U.S. beverage supply to Coca-Cola starting next year. This pivot marks the end of a long-standing corporate legacy that persisted even after the fast-food giant separated from its former parent company in the late 1990s.

The transition represents a strategic effort by the fried chicken chain to revitalize its domestic market share. KFC has struggled to retain diners who increasingly favor competitors such as Chick-fil-A and Popeyes. By introducing a new beverage lineup, the company hopes to modernize its menu and attract a broader customer base.

Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S., described the move as a cornerstone of the brand's "Kentucky Fried Comeback" initiative. In a memo to franchisees, she emphasized that the partnership with Coca-Cola provides a platform for menu innovation and aligns with shifting consumer preferences. While international KFC locations have served Coca-Cola for years, this switch finally unifies the brand's domestic beverage strategy with its global operations.
