Apple Prepares HomeView Launch to Challenge Smart Home Rivals

Bloomberg correspondent Mark Gurman reports that the centerpiece of this strategy is a hub device dubbed HomeView. Expected in wall-mounted and free-standing configurations, the unit features an A18 chip and advanced voice controls. Rather than acting as a solitary gadget, HomeView serves as an anchor for a broader network of third-party peripherals, including smart locks and doorbells developed alongside LG. Further industry chatter, including reports from MacRumors, suggests a potential partnership with security firm ADT to bolster the platform's utility.

Alongside the new hardware, Apple plans to refresh its Apple TV lineup, which has remained stagnant for two years. Anticipated upgrades include improved Siri integration via built-in microphones, faster processing, and expanded color options. While official details remain under wraps until Tuesday, projections point to an October 30 retail release for both the updated Apple TV and new HomePod models.
