At the heart of the machine lies Nvidia’s RX Spark N1X chip. Users can configure the device with up to a 6,144-core GPU and a 20-core CPU, supported by as much as 128GB of memory. This hardware allows the laptop to run local AI agents with over 120 billion parameters, matching the performance capabilities of the most powerful Apple MacBook Pro models currently available.
The 15-inch PixelSense Ultra display offers a resolution of 3,270x2,180 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Despite its power, the chassis remains 18 millimeters thin, housing a diverse array of ports including three USB-C slots, HDMI, and an SD card reader. Microsoft has also introduced Magnetic Connect, a proprietary system that brings magnetic charging to a USB-C interface. To further entice Apple users, the company is offering a $1,000 trade-in bonus for eligible MacBooks.
For developers who prefer a dedicated workstation, Microsoft also debuted the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box. This compact unit packs the same N1X performance and 128GB of memory into a screenless chassis, offering 1 petaflop of AI performance. While the laptop begins shipping on October 16, the Dev Box will follow in November with a starting price of $5,999.
