This move follows Disney’s earlier commitment to have ESPN produce the 2027 Super Bowl, which will also air simultaneously on ESPN and ABC. By bringing the league’s marquee event to its flagship streaming service, the company is aggressively scaling its live sports portfolio to keep pace with evolving viewer habits.
The push into live athletics extends beyond football. In August, Disney revealed plans to integrate Formula E racing into the Disney+ ecosystem, signaling a broader strategy to transform the service into a comprehensive destination for live entertainment and sports coverage.
