Short-haul flights, particularly those operating within Florida or between Hawaiian islands, remain the most consistent source of savings for those avoiding the holiday surge. Distance, however, remains an unreliable predictor of cost.

Premium pricing dominates routes originating from Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, with flights to New York and Washington D.C. commanding significant premiums. The most expensive tickets in the country currently originate in remote Alaska. Despite the state’s status as an oil producer, it relies heavily on imported refined jet fuel, driving costs for long-haul flights to the East Coast to their highest levels.
