The M5-powered iPad Pro is designed as a direct laptop replacement, featuring Neural Accelerators tailored for on-device AI and Apple Intelligence. Running on iPadOS 26, the device introduces a Liquid Glass interface and desktop-style windowing, allowing users to navigate complex workflows with ease. Despite measuring just 5.3mm thick and weighing less than a pound, the hardware consistently outperforms most portable computers. In testing, the M5 chip handled demanding software like Adobe Premiere Pro with enough efficiency to place it in the top 8% of all laptops evaluated by Mashable.
The hardware is anchored by a Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR display, capable of reaching 1,600 nits of brightness for high-end HDR production. While the tablet's capabilities may exceed the needs of casual users, the current $1,139 price point makes the investment more palatable for professional creators and power users. Tech Editor Timothy Beck Werth, who awarded the device 4.6 stars, noted that while the performance is overkill for everyday tasks, the tablet remains a significant technical achievement for Apple.
