Driven by the AI boom, the combined wealth of these individuals swelled by 12.8% to reach a record $15.1 trillion. Altrata’s analysis of 150 publicly listed companies reveals a stark performance gap: firms investing at least $30 million in AI over the last five years outperformed their peers by 23% in market capitalization growth between 2024 and 2025.
This concentration of capital has deepened the divide within the billionaire class. The report highlights 29 individuals classified as "superbillionaires," each worth more than $50 billion. Together, they control $4.1 trillion, accounting for 27% of total billionaire wealth. This marks a significant shift from 2017, when just 10 such individuals held only 7.2% of the total wealth pool. Maya Imberg, head of thought leadership and analytics at Altrata, notes that Wall Street’s fervor for AI remains the primary catalyst for this widening disparity.
