Izzy Englander's Millennium Management finished the month flat, maintaining an 8.2% gain for the year. Balyasny fared worse, shedding 0.7% in August and narrowing its annual performance to a slim 0.5% increase. Similar headwinds hit Dymon Asia, which recorded a 1.1% decline, while LMR managed only a marginal 0.3% uptick.
Despite the widespread stagnation, a few firms managed to break the pattern. Michael Gelband's ExodusPoint secured a 1.4% gain, bringing its annual return to 4.9%. London-based Man Group also saw positive movement, with its 1783 fund advancing 1.7% during the period. These results highlight a difficult environment for managers attempting to navigate volatile market shifts, as the S&P 500 continues to outstrip their performance by more than 12% for the year.
