Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the rampage as random. The suspect, identified as Pamela Cisneros, first approached a 68-year-old man, stabbing him in the abdomen. He remains in stable condition at a local hospital. Roughly twenty seconds later, Cisneros attacked Piacenti. Responding officers shot and killed Cisneros after she refused orders to drop the two large knives she was wielding.
Bank of America issued a statement mourning the loss of their colleague, who managed business selection and conflicts at the firm. While Cisneros had no prior criminal record, authorities confirmed she had a documented history of mental illness with previous police encounters in 2018 and 2019. The NYPD Force Investigation Division is currently reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
