The platform leverages OneRail’s proprietary data, which includes a network of over 12 million drivers and 1,000 logistics partners, to train its models on efficient routing. Rather than relying on static rules or manual planning, the system functions as a real-time decision layer that identifies the most cost-effective carriers and delivery modes for individual orders.
According to CEO Bill Catania, the high cost of last-mile fulfillment makes speed a critical competitive advantage. Early deployment results appear promising: one large tire distributor reported saving a run rate of $40 million over three years by using OmniStar. OneRail anticipates the platform will surpass $6 billion in gross merchandise volume by the fourth quarter.
David Daeschler, OneRail’s head of AI, compares the platform’s impact on logistics to the way large language models have democratized access to information. By lowering the barrier to sophisticated supply chain management, the company hopes to enable smaller businesses to compete on delivery speed and service quality. This rollout follows OneRail’s earlier partnership with FedEx, further expanding the company's reach into same-day delivery services.
