Apple Opens Preorders for M5 Mac Studio Lineup

The M5 Max configuration serves as the entry point for the new series, starting at $2,499, or $2,299 for education customers. Apple claims the chip provides up to 3.9 times faster AI performance than its predecessor, a boost aimed at videographers, engineers, and motion graphics designers who require significant processing power in a compact chassis.

For more demanding tasks like 8K video editing, 3D rendering, and training AI models, the M5 Ultra variant offers a 30-core CPU and 64-core GPU starting at $5,499. Users can further customize this model with an 80-core GPU for an additional $1,300. Both versions feature updated connectivity, including Thunderbolt 5 ports and support for up to eight simultaneous displays. A model featuring 512GB of unified memory is expected to join the lineup in late October.
