The process included a recurring Slack update to track how identified bottlenecks—ranging from parking shortages for commuters to the cumbersome distribution of API credits—were being addressed. Even after Simo’s departure, the system remains a fixture of the corporate culture.
Supporters view it as a rare instrument for accountability, allowing staff to flag operational dysfunction directly to the top. However, the channel faces internal criticism regarding its impact on focus. Some former team leads argue that the system creates significant disruption, as leadership may prioritize niche complaints over the urgent, under-resourced projects currently consuming their departments. For these employees, a complaint deemed worthy by Altman and President Greg Brockman can inadvertently derail teams already operating at maximum capacity.
