The outage, which began Sunday morning, has effectively paralyzed the console experience for many users. According to the official Xbox status page, the disruption is classified as a major outage affecting four critical pillars: Account & Profile, Games & Gaming, Store & Subscriptions, and Apps & Mobile. Data from Downdetector highlights that 65 percent of user reports specifically cite an inability to launch games, while others report persistent disconnects and server errors during active sessions.
Microsoft’s support team has maintained a steady stream of updates, acknowledging that while services are slowly beginning to stabilize, failures persist. The company stated that teams are investigating multiple angles to mitigate the errors. The incident follows a similar multi-hour blackout on the PlayStation Network just one week prior, underscoring the fragility of modern console ecosystems that rely heavily on persistent online connectivity to grant players access to their own libraries.
