The system tracks heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen saturation to generate these insights. When these metrics shift, the watch notifies the wearer, suggesting it may be time for extra recovery. This functionality relies on the improved battery life of the new models, which facilitates the continuous, round-the-clock monitoring necessary to maintain an accurate baseline.

The Oura Ring already employs a similar tool called Symptom Radar, which monitors biometric strain to guide daily activity decisions. Samsung’s implementation aims to bring this preventative health awareness to a wider audience as the devices head toward their August 7 retail release.
